Widespread Panic is an elite America jam band formed in Athens, GA in 1986. The are well known for their live performances and their southern rock influenced by the blues, progressive rock, and hard rock. They are ofter compared bands such as The Allman Brothers Band, and the Grateful Dead. Their music tends to be more rock oriented with Jimmy Herring (the current lead guitarist) being heavily influenced by Steve Morse of the Dixie Dreggs and Deep Purple. Widespread Panic holds the record for the most consecutive sold out shows at both Red Rock Amphitheater in Colorado and Philips Arena in Georgia.
